This year, artist Alfred Phillips generously donated his time and talents to Gainesville Modern in the form of a 24″ by 36″ painting to be used as the artwork for a commemorative poster for the 5th Annual Gainesville Modern Weekend.
The original acrylic on canvas work (pictured left) is valued at $1,200. The current high bid is $800.*
On March 18th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the 5th Annual Gainesville Modern Weekend Home Tour, the painting will be on display at one of the residences on the tour, 1512 NW 20th Street. The silent auction bid sheet will be present at the same address for those wishing to place a bid.
Bidding closes at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 19th at the GFAA Gallery before the screening of If You Build It, part of Sunday’s Constructive Conversations event. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the panel discussion following the film.
Signed, limited edition posters featuring the piece will be available both on the tour and during Sunday’s event for $20 each. All proceeds from the auction and posters benefit Gainesville Modern’s efforts to preserve Gainesville’s modern architectural past and promote its future through education, advocacy, and awareness. Those that sign up for a $50 Gainesville Modern Family Membership will receive a complimentary poster while supplies last.
