gnvmodern_exhibition_headerv1Gainesville Modern has teamed up with the Gainesville Fine Arts Association to present the “Gainesville Modern” exhibit, now through March 25th.

Join modern design enthusiasts and art lovers this Friday, Feb. 24th from 6:00-9:00pm, during Artwalk, for the opening reception at the Gainesville Fine Arts Association Gallery, located at 1314 S. Main Street.

Artwork inspired by Mid-Century Modern design will be on display and for sale in a fabulous, re-purposed Mid-Century Modern building. It’s the perfect opportunity to find a piece of art that will add just the right modern touch to your home or office.

Limited-edition, commemorative posters celebrating this year’s Fifth Annual Gainesville Modern Weekend will also be available, and artist Alfred Phillips will be on hand to personally sign your copy. Be sure to place your bid to own the original painting created for the poster.

An exploration and celebration of the role modern architecture played – and continues to play – in shaping Florida as both a place its residents call home and as a destination for tourists the world over. Join architects, preservationists, historians, scholars, and archivists from across the state as they examine how Modernism was uniquely adapted to Florida’s tropical landscape and climate, as well as the ways in which buildings and public spaces influence our social, cultural, and ecological realities.
