Gainesville Modern Weekend 2024: Mod Talks Lecture Series
Join us for the opening event of the Gainesville Modern Weekend 2024: MOD Talks Lecture Series. Free and open to the public, this event will be held at the Gainesville Garden Club Thursday, March 21st, from 6 to 8 pm. The series will include a talk on the Architect Harry Merritt. Two of the homes he designed will be featured on the Mid-Century Modern Home Tour the following Saturday March 23rd. The second lecture will discuss the Gainesville Garden Club, its building and Architect Jim McGinley and the history of the club- all in the midst of the 100th anniversary of the GGC. The last lecture will explore the theory and practices used in the Mid-Century Modern movement in landscape design and architecture.

Gainesville Modern Weekend 2024: Drinks and Dwellings “The Magic Garden” VIP Cocktail Party
Join us for “The Magic Garden” Drinks and Dwellings VIP Cocktail Party on March 22nd from 6 to 10 pm at the Gainesville Garden Club. Set amongst one of Gainesville’s best examples of MCM architecture and designed by Architect Jim McGinley. The buildings boast Ocala Block, Terrazzo floors and are surrounded by gorgeous views of the GGC gardens and courtyard. Enjoy an exciting night of food, specialty cocktails and full bar with live music. This event typically sells out. Space is limited. Details on caterer and entertainment to follow.

Gainesville Modern Weekend 2024: Annual Mid-Century Modern Home Tour
Our Annual Mid-Century Modern Home Tour offers an exciting day showcasing some of the best designed homes from 1945 to 1975 throughout Gainesville. One day only, March 23rd from 11 am to 5 pm. With 6 homes plus a bonus MCM stop on the tour, you will see MCM homes designed by Architects Harry Merritt, OrJan Wetterqvist, Dan Branch, Dave Henderson and others. Plus the bonus stop of the Architect Jim McGinley designed Gainesville Garden Club which will be open until 6 pm. Stops will include vintage cars, a commemorative poster by artist Alfred Phillips, food trucks and a Gainesville Modern Swag shop. Addresses will be sent to ticket holders the week of the event. Start your self guided tour at any of the 7 locations. Maps and brochures will be available at each location.
