Free and open to the public, this event was held at the Gainesville Garden Club Thursday, March 21st, from 6 to 8 pm. The first speaker was architect Harry Merritt. Two of the homes he designed were featured on that year’s Mid-Century Modern Home Tour. The second lecture featured the Gainesville Garden Club, its building, its architect Jim McGinley and the history of the club — all in the midst of the 100th anniversary of the GGC. The last lecture explored the theory and practices used in the Mid-Century Modern movement in landscape design and architecture.
